Work
Building products
Today I build software products independently. Before that, I spent close to a decade at Wolt, growing with the company from an early-stage startup to part of DoorDash.
Now
Independent Product Developer
After Wolt, I started building software products of my own, working through my company Monsoon Labs.
I'm fully on board with the industry's shift to AI-led development. AI is central to how I work, and I follow closely how it evolves and how to get the most out of it, without compromising on craft.
Previously
I joined Wolt in November 2016, when it was still an early-stage startup in Helsinki, and stayed until May 2026. In that time I saw nearly every phase a company can go through: the early startup years, hypergrowth, maturing as an organization, the acquisition by DoorDash in 2022, and becoming part of a global company with tens of thousands of employees.
Along the way I built internal tools, Wolt.com, the courier app, the merchant platform and design systems. I focused on strong foundations and a good engineering culture, the things that separate products that last from ones that don't.

Kind words
Everyone can code, but Klaus is the guy who can code in such a way that it's still nice and maintainable after 3 years of more features, and at the same time help half the product team contributing to the codebase reach the same level of quality.
Klaus's empathy for developers shows in the APIs he designs: they are always pleasant to use and carefully thought out for the real world.
Klaus is able to spot visual implementation flaws with pixel-perfect accuracy, while having the ability to reason about code in a very complete way.
When you ask for code review feedback from Klaus, it's a two step process: first you get annoyed that you got a ton of nitpicky comments to fix, then you look at them and realize that every single one is well founded and you end up grateful for a better result.
